Extra Cash On The Line For Racers Competing This Friday At Big Diamond Speedway
Story By: KENNETH BRUCE / BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – When the gates are thrown open this Friday July 10th at the Big Diamond Speedway promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley have once again put some extra cash on the line for all four divisions.
The Insigner Performance Modifieds will run a normal 25-lap feature event with $4000 going to the winner. There have been three $4000 to win features thus far in 2020 with three different winners. Opening night Jared Umbenhauer was the victor, unfortunately for Umbenhauer his No. 1H was destroyed in a hard tumble only two weeks ago and is out of action until the car can be replaced. Craig Von Dohren was winner only two weeks ago when he won the $4000 Kamp Memorial and last week it was Timmy Buckwalter taking the $4000 to win Georgie Stevenson Memorial. Von Dohren is also your current points leader over Jeff Strunk, Mike Gular and Billy Pauch Jr. It will be another stellar night of modified racing at the Minersville dirt oval.
The USS Achey Sportsman cars will once again take the track on Friday night racing their 20-lap feature event with the teams all going for the $1000 to win prize. Brad Brightbill, Glen Rowan and Brandon Edgar all have feature wins this season and will looking to add to their totals in 2020. Brightbill is your current points leader over David Burns and Brandon Edgar.
The always exciting Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners will run their 20-lap feature race for $500 to win. The roadrunners have put on some of the most exciting racing of the year at Big Diamond and I am sure Friday night will be no exception. There have been four races with four different winners so far in the roadrunner division as the competition is extremely balanced. Alex Schoffstall is the current point leader in the roadrunner division over Chris Holland and Terry Kramer.
Rounding out Friday’s night card will be the Hellers Gas Street Stocks as they will also be racing for $500 to win this week as well in their 20-lap main event. Jason Geesaman and Kody Sites have each won a feature this season and will looking to make it number two on the year. Sites is also the points leader in the street stock division.
Gates will open this Friday at 5:30pm with racing getting underway at 7:45pm
General admission for this Friday is $20, Seniors are $18, kids 16 and under are admitted free on Friday. Active Military with a valid ID are free.
*Note – In an effort to make up for lost races earlier this year, the Insigner Performance Sunoco Modifieds have been added to the schedule on July 24th and August 14th.
