Danny Dietrich Concludes All Star Weekend With Top-Five In Weikert Memorial Finale

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / GARY KAUFFMAN RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – Flying the traditional Weikert Livestock colors, ‘Double-D’ Danny Dietrich put together a solid performance during the annual Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway and capped the two-day showcase with a top-five performance, ending the 30-lap finale fourth in the running order after a relentless battle with full-time All Stars, as well as Outlaws.

The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native started fifth on the evening grid and qualified for the $10,000-to-win main event by virtue of qualifying time and heat race passing points.

Although forced to surrender early during the Bob Weikert Memorial opener on Saturday due to mechanical failure, Dietrich opened his weekend in Central Pennsylvania with a hard charging performance at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, July 17; the defending Williams Grove Speedway champion rallied from 16th to finish seventh.

“I think we were hoping for a little better result each night, but we’ll take this and move forward. It was a tough field of cars and you have to capitalize whenever the opportunity presents itself,” Danny Dietrich said, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “I can’t thank Gary Kauffman enough for all that he does for this race team. My guys worked hard all weekend, even in the heat. Hopefully we can do one better this weekend when the World of Outlaws come to town.”

Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2020 campaign with a trio of World of Outlaws events during the coming weekend, first joining the Greatest Show On Dirt at Lincoln Speedway on Thursday, July 23, followed by a two-day Summer Nationals venture at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July 24-25.
