Craig Von Dohren Kicks Off His Chase After 2020 Grandview Mod Title With Victory Saturday
Information By: ERNIE SAXTON / GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY – BECHTELSVILLE, PA – Ten-time Modified champion Craig Von Dohren kicked off his chase for another championship at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night by winning the 30-lap T.P.Trailers NASCAR Modified feature race that kicked off the 2020 championship season.
Jack Butler took the top honors in the T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman 25-lap feature race. Scott Schaeffer was the winner in the 15-lap Outlaw Vintage race.
Von Dohren topped a field of 28 Modifieds in the main event. Defending Modified titleholder Duane Howard grabbed a strong second place finish while veteran campaigner Doug Manmiller came home third followed by Jeff Strunk, another ten time titleholder, and Jared Umbenhauer.
Finishing second to Butler in the Sportsman main event was Brandon Edgar followed to the checkered flag by Brad Brightbill, Brian Hirthler and Mark Kemmerer.
Curt Neiman was the second place finisher in the 15-lap Outlaw main. Wyatt Jacobus Sr. took third with Matt Smith and Gene Wrightstone finishing fourth and fifth.
Kyle Larson, Sammy Swindell and other well-known national talents are expected to be in action when the 410 Sprints and 358 Modifieds take part in the Greg Hodnett Memorial Night on Tuesday, June 30. Racing gets the green at 7:30 p.m.
Then on Saturday, July 4, the T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman will be in the spotlight racing in the Firecracker 40 which rewards the winner with $2,000. The T.P.Trailers Modifieds will also be in action. Spectator gates open at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is $22 with young people 6 thru 11 admitted for $5, Under 6 are admitted free.
