Cornwall Motor Speedway To Get “Back To The Track” June 6th With No Spectators

Story By: MARTIN BÉLANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – Some great news for auto racing as the Cornwall Motor Speedway will host their first event of the 2020 season on Saturday, June 6.

With the current guidelines in place by the health safety of Ontario on social distancing, no spectators will be allowed for the event.

With the added collaboration of 360nitro.tv, the event will be available to purchase online and fans will be able to see the full program on the web. The event will be available in both English and French as live description will be done by our track announcers.

Two categories will be in action with 50-lap features for both the Le Grinder Modified and Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman. A maximum of 30 participants per class will be able to run, the top 20 drivers from the 2019 track championship will have priority on a spot, drivers will need to confirm their spot by email. Invitation will be open to Modified and Sportman drivers, if we exceed 30 participants, a live draw will be done to determine the field of 30 cars.

Drivers will draw at their arrival at the speedway, this will determine the order for the heats, then the heat finishes will set the starting grid for both ‘’Back to the track 50’’ feature events.

With the current guidance in place on social distancing, we are limited in the amount of space available in the pit area as well on enforcing a maximum of members in a race team, each guideline must be imposed by all. Several restrictions and conditions such as hand washing, face covering for team members and employees when social distancing is not feasible, the space between the trailers will be expanded to help with distancing.

In the current context, it is a unique and historic event in the making, we will remember year 2020 for a long time, if the response is good from team and fans, there is a strong possibility that we would host events with Pro-Stock and Mini-Stock.
