Weedsport Speedway’s Test & Tune Cancelled As ‘NY On Pause’ Extended Through May 15
Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / WEEDSPORT SPEEDWAY – WEEDSPORT, NY – During a press conference on Thursday, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the ‘New York on Pause’ initiative has been extended through May 15.
As a result of this extension, Weedsport Speedway’s test and tune session, scheduled for Sunday, May 3, has been canceled.
The test and tune will not be rescheduled.
“The health and safety of our staff, fans and racers is our first priority,” said Weedsport Speedway promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “We continue to follow the guidelines and mandates as prescribed by the State of New York and ensure everyone that as soon as we are given the green light, we will be ready for racing at Weedsport.”
With the test and tune cancelation, all focus now shifts to Weedsport’s Heroes Remembered special, which is scheduled for May 24-25.
Weedsport Kartway is set to kick-off action on Sunday, May 24 with a full card of points racing, as well as a $1,000 to win PRO Clone 360 special.
On Monday, May 25, the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds will contend for a $7,500 pay day in the Heroes Remembered 100 at Weedsport Speedway, joined on the card by the DIRTcar Sportsman and the CRSA Sprints.
Weedsport Speedway officials will continue to monitor ongoing updates in regards to COVID-19 and will provide further track updates as they are available.
