Albany-Saratoga Speedway Officials Closely Monitoring Coronavirus Developments
Story By: TOM BOGGIE / ALBANY-SARATOGA SPEEDWAY – MALTA, NY – Officials at Albany-Saratoga Speedway will be closely following the continuing development of the Coronavirus outbreak as they prepare for the 2020 racing season.
“Albany-Saratoga Speedway will be monitoring New York State and Saratoga County guidelines (concerning COVID-19),” said speedway promoter Lyle DeVore Friday. “The safety of our fans and employees is our foremost concern.”
Earlier this week, New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a statement through social media stating that as of Friday (March 13), “gatherings of 500 people or more will not be permitted in New York State.” At the time the statement was issued, no time frame was placed on the ban.
Albany-Saratoga Speedway has scheduled a tech and safety inspection for Sunday, April 5, and has scheduled a practice session for all divisions on Friday, April 10.
The 2020 season is scheduled to kick off on Friday, April 17.
