RPW Column: The New York State Stock Car Association Is Set To Celebrate 2019’s Best This Weekend
RPW Column By: LAURIE FALLIS / RPW – ALBANY, NY – Many banquets are held every off-season, honoring drivers that represent different home tracks for their accomplishments. The New York State Stock Car Association (NYSSCA) is no exception,
The organization, which has held their annual awards presentation acknowledging all aspects of motorsports through out the Northeast since 1969, will be doing so again this coming Saturday evening, February 22nd, at the Polish Community Center in Albany, NY.
Many will be honored, from drivers to car owners to media to other special people who go the extra mile to make our sport of racing shine so bright. This is NYSSCA’s way of allowing them to get the recognition they deserve for their dedication.
Always a special part of the banquet is the annual Hall Of Fame Induction. This took place for the first time in 1984 with names like Danish, Herbert and Shoemaker being honored…true legends of the sport.
Some 36-years later, Jeff Heotzler, Charlie Langenstein, John McArdell and Mike McLaughlin will be inducted this weekend. Their ceremony will start earlier in the day at the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga Springs, NY.
NYSSCA will recognize drivers who compete at ten different tracks or series throughout the region, including:
- Afton Motorsports Park
- Albany-Saratoga Speedway
- CRSA Sprint Car Series
- Devils Bowl Speedway
- Fonda Speedway
- Lebanon Valley Speedway
- Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series
- The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park
- Utica-Rome Speedway
A big thank you goes to all that are involved in making the New York State Stock Car Association Awards Banquet an event like no other. The organization goes out of their way to make sure everyone in attendance feels their importance…it has the feeling of being bigger than NASCAR’s banquet. That’s special in of itself.
Thank you all for your hard work and dedication in making the 51st event a memorable experience for all.
