Tyler Thompson To Contend For Qualifying Spot During Tuesday’s Prelim Night At Chili Bowl Nationals
Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / JASON SIMMONS RACING – OSWEGO, NY – In conjunction with Seymour Racing and Indy Performance Composites, Oswego Speedway International Classic Champion, Tyler Thompson, will make his Chili Bowl Midget Nationals debut on Tuesday, January 14 inside the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, OK.
Taking place from January 13-18, the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals is one of the most recognizable racing events in the country, featuring more than 340 drivers competing for the coveted Golden Driller.
Several local partners have stepped up to help make this incredible opportunity possible.
“We wouldn’t have this opportunity without Seymour Racing and Indy Performance Composites,” said Thompson. “But locally, we have had several long-time partners contribute to helping make this trip a reality including Hammond Auto, Top Quality Construction, Oswego Auto and Tire, Kelly’s Zen Den and Pullen’s Plumbing. This group effort is the only reason we will be in Tulsa. I cannot thank them all enough.”
Thompson’s Chili Bowl journey will begin on Monday, January 13 with an open practice slated for 9 a.m. before he returns on Tuesday, January 14 for Warren CAT Qualifying Night.
More than 60 drivers will compete in the Tuesday night preliminary event, with only the top two finishers in that night’s A-Main transferring to the Saturday, January 18 Chili Bowl A-Main.
Chili Bowl veterans joining Thompson in January 14 qualifying include Kyle Larson, Michael Faccinto, Jonathan Beason, Alex Bowman, Zeb Wise, Damion Gardner and Larry Wight.
Further qualifying will take place on Saturday, January 18 prior to the night’s 55-lap A-Main, which pays $10,000 to the winner.
