RPW Column: Father / Son Roselli Team Announce Plans For 2020 Season
RPW Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – HIGHLAND LAKE, NY – Father and son racers Dominic Roselli Sr. & Jr. have announced their 2020 racing plans. Dominic Sr. will be racing with the Modifieds at Accord and Dominic Jr. will be racing in the Sportsman division at OCFS.
Dominic Jr. has been racing since 2005, starting with go karts at Accord and Oakland Valley. He had quite a bit of success with the go karts and nearly won a state championship. His first chance to race a Sportsman came in 2015 with the Chad Loiodice team at OCFS and was that season’s Rookie of the Year. Dominic Jr. and the team won their first Sportsman feature in 2015.
He was away at away at tech school in 2016 and 2017, but returned to the driver’s seat in 2018. He was the 2018 Short Track Super Series Open Sportsman Champion. He raced a partial season in in the Modifieds at the Penn Can Speedway.
He will be racing his own Sportsman #80 in 2020.
“I will be doing the full Sportsman season at OCFS and maybe some events at Thunder Mountain when OCFS is off,” Dominic Jr. said. “If all goes well, we might just give Super Dirt Week a try.”
Dominic Sr. has been racing at New York and Pennsylvania tracks since 1980. He has picked many feature victories along the Southern Tier and he won 4 championships at the Moc A Tek Speedway.
“He always seemed to run better on the smaller tracks, they were better suited for him,” Dominic Jr. said of his father.
Dominic Sr. will also be racing his familiar #80. Both Sr. & Jr. are grateful to the help they get from the Van Sickle’s, Butch and Mary Jo. The #80 teams are actively looking for additional sponsors.
“We have some proposals out, but we are looking for additional help,” Dominic Jr. said. “Anyone interested in supporting our racing program can email me at dominicroselliracing@gmail.com.”
It will be a good sight to see the #80 cars again running the Accord/OCFS circuit in 2020.
