Peter Britten To Chase After More Albany-Saratoga Speedway Checkered Flags In 2020
Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / PETER BRITTEN RACING – WEEDSPORT, NY – After a 2019 season that saw him visit victory lane twice and finish fourth in the season-long point standings at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Peter Britten wants more.
Britten will return to the ‘Great Race Place’ every Friday night this coming season in search of his second career Modified track championship.
“There’s just something about the Albany-Saratoga Speedway,” Britten said. “Malta’s one of those places that’s extremely hard to win at. When you get to victory lane there, you feel like you’ve accomplished something. We’ve been a champ there before, and that’s our ultimate goal in 2020.”
For this season, the Brisbane, Queensland, Australia native will have updated equipment at his disposal as he attempts to improve on his top five points finish from one year ago. Britten knows that won’t be easy with the quality of competition he’ll be racing against each week, but feels his team’s up to the challenge.
“There’s countless drivers who could win at Albany on any given night,” he said. “The talent that races there is amazing and you have to bring your A-game if you want to do well. To be a winner and a champion at that track is something any driver can be proud of.”
Britten picked up his first career Albany-Saratoga feature win in 2013 driving for Jerry Darrah and currently has ten wins overall at the track. Adding to that total this season is high on the priority list for the popular driver.
“We want to win at Albany, and win often,” he said. “If we can do that, and stay consistent all season, the points will shake out. We will have good equipment to race there and I know it won’t be an easy feat by any means. However, it’s what we need to do.”
Since being a regular at the Speedway, Britten has always held promoter Lyle DeVore in high regard for running a top-notch facility.
“Lyle always has Albany ready to go each week,” he said. “That surface is always racy, always fast, and produces some great action. I can’t wait to get back there when the season starts.”
Opening night for Peter and team 21A at the “Great Race Place” will be Friday, April 17th. The track hasn’t released their full schedule yet, but stay tuned to PeterBrittenRacing.com to see where Batman’s going to race each week.
