RPW Exclusive: An Emotional Win For Rick Laubach Sunday Night In 5/8 Finale At Bridgeport

Column By: MEL JASSEY / RPW – SWEDESBORO, NJ – It was an emotional night at the Bridgeport Speedway for Rick Laubach.

Laubach out-powered the competition to win the finale for the 5/8-mile track on Wildcard Weekend and then dedicated the win to his Mother who passed away just days ago.

Jeff Strunk, Michael Maresca, Ryan Watt and Billy Pauch Sr. completed the top five.

Strunk and Craig Von Dohren lucked out in redraw and started the feature on the front row. Strunk was the early leader of the race and held on to barely finish second with heavy smoke pouring from his car.

Watt and Pauch Sr. rebounded from early tire problems as they rode the cushion back into top 5.

Laubach, Watt and Pauch won the Modified Heats.

Wayne Weaver picked up the 602 Sportsman win coming from sixth starting spot, beating Steve Davis in the #4s.

Rich Stinson won the exciting Outlaw Stock feature. Twelve of the 20 cars finished as there were several hard crashes up front. Stinson leads every lap, however, from his pole starting position.
