Prelude To The Coalcracker 50, $5,000-To-Win Highlights Friday At Big Diamond
Story By: KENNETH BRUCE / BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, NY – With the season winding down, anticipation is high for the upcoming Jack Rich, Inc Coalcracker 72 on September 1st. This year’s signature event for the speedway will pay $17,000 to the winner which will be the biggest ever for the speedway.
But first we have this week’s “Prelude to the Coalcracker” for the Insigner Performance Modifieds this Friday night. The annual race will be a 50-lap event with the winners receiving a nice $5000 payday. This Friday will also be the final night of points for the modifieds. Craig Von Dohren currently leads in the chase for the title over Duane Howard. Von Dohren has a healthy lead on Howard and will be hard to beat as we look to crown the 2019 Insigner Performance Modified Champion.
*Friday night’s Prelude to the Coalcracker race for the Modified will be a draw race.
Also, on the racing card for this Friday will be the USS Achey Sportsman as Doug Hendricks looks to add to his dominating year in 2019. Hendricks has been the class of the field so far this season at Big Diamond with a commanding lead in his quest for the track championship.
Rounding out this Friday’s show will be the Savage 61 Road Runners, the Road Runners always put on an exciting race for the fans and this Friday should be no different. Chris Holland is your current point leader and will out to extend his lead over his competitors.
As a bonus this Friday, there will be a mechanics race presented as well giving those that dedicate their time and energy to work on the race cars a chance to shine and take in some of the glory.
Gates open at 5:30pm, with warmups at 7:15pm and racing getting underway at 7:45pm.
General admission for this weekend is $23. Kids 11-12 are $10 with kids 10 and under admitted free. Active Military with valid ID are also free of charge.
