Patriot Sprint Tour Championship Battle Continues At Woodhull This Saturday

Story By: PAUL HARKENRIDER / PATRIOT SPRINT TOUR – WOODHULL, NY – With just two full point affairs remaining on the 2019 PST schedule, the quest for a series championship is still up for grabs between four highly competitive drivers.

Davie Franek, Joe Trenca, Jordan Thomas, and Jared Zimbardi, all of whom still have a chance of becoming this years champion.

Between the four drivers, only 71 points separate all of them heading into Woodhull this Saturday night. Davie Franek has been the point leader since May 31 as he notched four wins with the Patriots in 2019. Two of which have been at Woodhull, a track he has never visited until this year. Franek also has wins at Ransomville and Land of Legends.

Joe Trenca was consistent all season and finally broke into the win column back on August 2 for the first time in his career. He was able to carry that momentum into the next weekend by taking home a solid third place run at Eriez. Trenca has found success at Woodhull this season posting two fourth place finishes in the two visits.

One driver who has been consistent all season is Jordan Thomas. However, Thomas has not been able to break into the win column just yet. The odds are in Thomas’s favor this Saturday, a sixth place back in May and a third place finish in July only indicate improvement each time Thomas tackles the high banks of Woodhull.

Another driver who continued to improve both times the Patriots visited Woodhull this year is five time series champion, Jared Zimbardi. Zimbardi had a fifth place run in May and a second place run last month. Zimbardi will be looking for his second career win at Woodhull (2016) and his 40th overall with the tour.

Saturdays race will also be a final tune up before the inaugural running of the New York Nationals at the Land of Legends Raceway. A two day event on September 6 & 7 with triple features running Friday night and a $5000 to win race on Saturday night.
