DIRTcar 358-Modified Series Invades Fulton Speedway Thursday For Showdown At Sundown 100

Story By: DAVE MEDLER / FULTON SPEEDWAY – FULTON, NY – After the announcement during the off-season that the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series would be competing for purse and points fund exceeding $330,00 plus going back to a one region series, a resurgence in interest from race teams was high going into the 2019 racing season.

This Thursday, June 27th anticipation is high from fans and race teams as the Fulton Speedway will swing their gates open for the St Lawrence Radiology ‘Showdown at Sundown’ 100-lap battle.

Fulton Speedway regulars looking to keep the cash and trophy home will be led by 2018 Track Champion & DIRTcar 358 Modified Series champion Larry Wight and teammate Pat Ward who finished second in the series standings in 2018, plus Tim Sears Jr., Tom Sears Jr., Ron Davis III, Dale Planck, Rob Bellinger, Billy Whittaker, Dave Marcuccilli, Glenn Forward, Jeff McGinnis and others.

With the increase of money being paid out, coupled with Can-Am and Fulton Speedway running the first two Series races on consecutive days within an easy drive, a stout field of invaders is expected from Western NY, Ontario, Quebec and Eastern. NY to challenge the track regulars to see who will drive out the pit gate as St. Lawrence Radiology ‘Showdown at Sundown’ Champion.

Also, on the race card will be the DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman making it a must-see event.

The Sportsman will draw at the pit gates for heat race lineups, every car entered will race in a feature. Track show up points will be awarded.

Grandstand admission: Adults $22, 18 years & younger admitted free.

Race Day Schedule:

  • 3:00 pm – Pit Gate, Hauler Parking
  • 5:00 pm – Grandstands Open
  • 6:00 pm – Hot Laps
  • 6:20 pm – Time Trials
  • 7:00 pm – Heat Races

There will be no racing this Saturday, June 29 so fans and race teams have time to celebrate the recent accomplishments with their recent graduates. Racing will return in a big way Saturday, July 6 when the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints will be in town for ESS Speedweek. The Modifieds, Sportsman, Late Models and Novice Sportsman will also be racing plus Yellow Out for Sarcoma Research.
