Rain Forces Big Diamond Speedway To Release Updated Schedule For May
Story By: KENNETH BRUCE / BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – We’ll since the weather refuses to cooperate and allow Big Diamond Speedway to get their season underway, the track has been forced to realign it’s 2019 May schedule.
With the track opener being rained out for the third consecutive week. The speedway will once again try and get the current season underway this Friday May 3rd. It will Schaeffer’s Motorsports night with the Insinger Performance 358 Modifieds running a 30-lap main event with $4,000 going to winner. The USS Achey Sportsman will run a 20-lap feature with the winner receiving a cool $1,000. The Eash’s Towing and Recovery Street Stocks along with the Savage 61 Road Runners will the night’s racing card.
Friday’s night action will get underway with gates opening at 5:00pm and warmups starting at 7:15pm. Qualifying heats will begin at 7:45pm.
General admission for this Friday is $20. Kids 10 & under and active military with valid ID are admitted free of charge.
*Rain date for this Friday’s show will be Sunday May 5th. Gates will open at 1:00pm with racing getting underway at 4:00pm.
The balance of the schedule for May is as follows:
Friday May 10th will be Little League Night / No Sweat Service Group night featuring the return of the Topless Modifieds. The Insinger Performance 358 Modifieds will run a 40-lap feature event without roofs paying $5,000 to the winner. The Sportsman, Road Runners and Street Stocks will also be in action. There will also be a Mother’s Day giveaway.
Friday May 17th – Youth Group Night / Eash’s Towing and Recover Night featuring the always popular USAC Wingless Sprint Cars along with the Sportsman, Road Runners, Street Stocks and the 600cc Modifieds.
Friday May 24th – Meet & Greet Night featuring the mighty URC Sprints, 358 Modifieds, Road Runners and Street Stocks.
Friday May 31st – Fire Management Control of Pennsylvania night featuring the three times rescheduled “Money in the Mountains” race. The Modifeds will race a 60-lap feature event paying $10,000 to the winner. The race will be run under the rules of the Short Track Super Series (No Sail Panels). The show will also feature the Sportsman, Road Runners and Street Stocks along with the Central PA Legend cars.
