Modifieds Set To Make 2019 Season Debut This Friday At Big Diamond Speedway

Story By: KENNETH BRUCE / BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – After finally getting a race under our belts last Friday, the track would like to say thank you to all of our race teams, fans, workers and sponsors for all of their help and patience with this unseasonably wet weather which has caused the track to miss a month of our season already.

This Friday night May 24th, the Insinger Performance 358 Modifieds will make their first appearance of 2019 as part of “Slifko Service Center Night”. It will also be “Meet and Greet Night” giving the fans a chance to get up close with their favorite drivers.

Along with the Insinger Performance Modfieds, this week will also signal the 2019 season debut of the Winged Warriors of the United Racing Club at the speedway. Better known as just the URC Sprints, this will be their first of two scheduled appearances at the speedway in 2019. Last year at the track the 360 cubic inch winged missiles put on a tremendous show for the fans and this year should be no exception with the new clay surface that was laid down over the winter. The new track surface has played to rave reviews so far from the competitors.

Don’t forget the USS Achey Sportsman cars have been added to this week’s racing card as an extra treat for the fans. Completing the racing events on the night will be the Savage 61 Road Runners along with the Eash’s Towing and Recovery Street Stocks.

Gates will open this Friday at 5:30 with warmups hitting the track at 7:15pm. Racing will get underway promptly at 7:45pm.

General admission for this Friday is $25. Kids 10-11 are $10 with kids under 10 admitted free of charge. Active military with valid ID are free.

*Coming up on Friday night May 31st will be the annual “Money in the Mountains” race presented by Fire Management Control of Pennsylvania. With the winner taking home a cool $10,000 you can be sure to expect some invaders coming into town to try and steal the big money away from the track regulars. This year’s race will be run under the rules of the Short Track Super Series (no sail panels). The sportsman, road runners, street stocks and the central PA legends will also compete during the night.
