“The Legends of Racing” Roundtable Highlights 12th Annual Quaker Steak & Lube Dirt Track Heroes Show at Phillipsburg Mall

Story By: STEVE PADOS / DIRT TRACK HEROES – PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – The Quaker Steak & Lube Twelfth Annual Dirt Track Heroes Show completed the sixth day of the week long journey into the past, present and future of auto racing for the racing community and will head into the finale on Saturday, March 9th with a tribute slated to “The Old Master” Frankie Schneider with many of the great racing talents that Frankie competed against at many facilities including the famed Flemington “Square” Speedway. The Friday event highlighted a tremendous day event that lasted through much of the day and evening as a large crowd was on hand to hear racing stories as told by the legends themselves. The second show featured a combination of Modified and Open Wheel drivers to close out the evening of interviews. The week long show thus far has included a bit of everything with major power outages and snow and icy road conditions within the calling area causing many of the entries to withdraw from the event.

With the eclectic Quaker Steak & Lube Restaurants the lead sponsor of the event, the excitement and the pulse for the week long show quickens with each day as the diverse schedule of the week long show offers a bit of everything to all racing fans. Emcee Justin Beltrame opened the show and introduced and interviewed a stellar panel of driving legends from the local area and beyond during the show. The show played to a full house and in roundtable fashion to allow the fans to connect with the drivers they cheered for when they dominated the local speedway scene. Gary Gollub, Alan Carter, Gerald Chamberlain, Sammy Beavers, Billy Tanzosh, Bob Schmidt, Bob Schoenberger and Ed and Steve Pados were onboard for the show. Details for the Premio Foods “Sausage Eating Contest have been announced and the event will take place at Noon on Saturday, the 9th March. The first nine contestants who sign in will go for the grand prize of a $100.00 Gift Certificate to the winner. Second place will earn a Fifty dollar certificate and third place will earn a certificate worth $25.00. The contest will go five full minutes and each contestant will be wearing the famous Premio Foods aprons and hats and a photo shoot will take place as the contest concludes. The great fan base of racing can come out to this grand Mall event and be transported back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races.
