Increased Super DIRTcar Series Purses, New Hoosier Weekly Championship Highlight Promoters Meetings
Story By: JOE GRABIANOWSKI / DIRTCAR – SYRACUSE, NY – DIRTcar Racing track promoters from across the Northeast came together Saturday morning in advance of the DIRTcar Night of Champions to establish the foundation and direction for the 2019 racing season under new Super DIRTcar Series and DIRTcar Northeast Director Dean Reynolds. DIRTcar’s mission statement is to continue leading the way in competition, safety and professionalism.
Among the key moments from the meeting with more 50 promoters and officials is the news that for the first time in 15 years, the Super DIRTcar Series purse is substantially increasing. Every race on the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds schedule will carry a minimum of $7,500 to-win, with many at the $10,000 level for NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifiers, including the return to Ohio’s famous Eldora Speedway. Other purse highlights include a $1,000 payday for 10th position and $500 to start.
The renewed commitment from DIRTcar Northeast tracks ensures the continued success of the Series and sets up 2019 to be one of the most hotly contested seasons to date. The roster of full-time drivers continues to grow with an exciting mix of veterans and fresh faces. In addition to a number of returning series stars newcomers like Demetrios Drellos, Jack Lehner and Mat Williamson have confirmed their intentions to compete for the 2019 Super DIRTcar Series Championship, showcasing drivers who have emerged through the ranks of DIRTcar Racing.
An all-new Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship was also unveiled, with tracks awarding points for Big-Block Modifieds, 358 Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, and Pro Stocks. A driver’s best 16 finishes from their home tracks are counted towards the Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship, where nearly $37,000 in cash and nearly $8,000 in VP Racing Fuels certificates will be distributed in 2019.
In addition, Ransomville Speedway and Land of Legends Raceway were named VP Racing Fuels Tracks of the Year.
Finally, DIRTcar announced FloRacing.comwill once again live stream nearly all of the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds events in 2019, continuing DIRTcar’s relationship with one of the biggest live-streaming companies in the global sports landscape.
Overall, unity and togetherness was the message of the day. The bond between DIRTcar tracks and officials remains as strong as ever heading into 2019.
