World Of Outlaws Return To Lakeside Speedway For FVP Platinum Battery Shootout

Story By: ANTHONY CORINI / WORLD OF OUTLAWS – CONCORD, NC – The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series 40th Anniversary Season is coming to an end, but not before one final trip to the Midwest starting Friday, October 19 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS with the running of the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout. Last year’s FVP Platinum Battery Shootout was exactly that, a shootout.

A handful of sizzling battles throughout the perfect racing surface excited the crowd with FVP sponsored driver Brian Brown coming out on top for the hometown win.

“Lakeside is as close to home as it gets for me, it’s only about 30 minutes from my house so there’s a lot of friends and family that will be in attendance and obviously FVP. They are a key partner for the event, so we want to do well for them. We were lucky enough to win last year and hopefully we can put ourselves in position again this year,” Brown said in anticipation of the event.

“Lakeside is a place we like and race well at. There’s a lot of big races coming up at the end of the year and the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout at Lakeside is circled on our calendar,” Brown, who hails from Grain Valley, MO, said.

The hoard of Outlaw regulars will be looking to reign supreme in Kansas, led by nine-time and defending Series Champion and current points leader Donny Schatz, who won at Lakeside in 2015. Other Series regulars that have Lakeside triumphs include Brad Sweet (2016) and Daryn Pittman (2003).

The FVP Platinum Battery Shootout marks the last title race of the year for FVP with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, but they’ll be joining the Series in full force for the 2018 World of Outlaws World Finals presented by Can-Am at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

“It’s been another great year with The Greatest Show on Dirt and we can’t wait to conclude it with another big event at Lakeside,” FVP Senior Brand Manager Amber Misunas said. “Last year’s event was a big success and we look forward to watching Brian Brown compete for another win,” Misunas added with a smile.
