Tyler Thompson To Make Big Block Debut This Weekend’s In Fulton’s Outlaw 200

Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / JASON SIMMONS RACING – OSWEGO, NY – On the day of his 17th birthday, Tyler Thompson and Jason Simmons Racing are pleased to announce a partnership with David Bartlett, which will see Thompson make his Big-Block Modified debut at this weekend’s 33rd annual Fulton Speedway Outlaw 200.

Thompson, a winner at Fulton Speedway earlier this season in DIRTcar Sportsman action, is no stranger to big-block powerplants after having earned Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified Rookie of the Year honors this season. Now, Thompson will use that experience, coupled with his veteran laps in Sportsman action, to make a run at qualifying for the prestigious $20,000 to win Outlaw 200 on Saturday, September 29.

“I can’t thank David enough for this chance,” said Thompson. “We’re looking forward to working together on this first opportunity to go Big-Block Modified racing and it means a lot to do it on Outlaw Weekend. If we can be competitive and qualify for the show, it will certainly be a highlight on our resume as a team.”

Thompson will wheel Bartlett’s No. 393 Big-Block Modified this weekend, while also competing in his own No. 98T DIRTcar Sportsman.

After finishes of 14th and 4th over the weekend as a part of Fonda Speedway’s Applefest Shootout Sportsman program, Thompson finished the DIRTcar Sportsman Central Region Championship in fourth position amongst a stellar lineup of competitors including champion Kevin Root, Jackson Gill, Zach Sobotka, Will Shields, Matt Janczuk, Charlie Tibbits, Dave Marcuccilli, Jessica Power and Rocco Leone.

Following Thompson’s fourth place effort at Fonda on Saturday evening, he backed it up with a fifth place run at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park on Sunday for two top fives on the weekend.

Thompson is now eager to move into the Fall Championship portion of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series Championship this weekend at Fulton as well as making his Big-Block Modified debut.
