Devil’s Bowl Speedway Secures Sponsor For Big Vermont 200 Weekend
Story By: JUSTIN ST. LOUIS / DEVIL’S BOWL SPEEDWAY – WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway and Interstate All Battery Center of Rutland have announced a major sponsorship agreement for the Vermont 200 Weekend event on September 15-16. The event has been officially named the “Interstate All Battery Center Vermont 200” to recognize the commitment that the longtime local motorsports supporter has made in its support of the marquee event.
The Interstate All Battery Center Vermont 200 will be the biggest and richest event in Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s 52-season history. The Sportsman Modified division will compete for its most lucrative purse ever with $10,000 posted for the winner of the 200-lap main event, and the total weekend purse is set at over $54,000.
“This announcement is an exciting boost for the Vermont 200, and it highlights the great partnership between two Rutland County businesses – Interstate All Battery Center and Devil’s Bowl Speedway,” track media director Justin St. Louis said. “The Interstate Batteries name is such an iconic racing brand both locally and nationally, and we’re proud to have Interstate All Battery Center of Rutland on board for our biggest event ever.”
Interstate All Battery Center is owned and operated by Martin “Babe” Keith and located on River Street in Downtown Rutland. The Keith family and Interstate Batteries first became involved with local racing in the 1980s with top driver Gibby Fountain, later continuing with Ryan Keith, Donald Scarborough, and others. Today, the familiar green, red, and black logo is found on the Sportsman cars of twin brothers Joey and Jake Scarborough.
“We’re excited for the opportunity to support the Vermont 200,” Babe Keith said. “My family and I have always loved Devil’s Bowl, and I think the Vermont 200 will be one of those events that people talk about for years. It’s great to have Interstate All Battery Center of Rutland be a part of it.”
The Interstate All Battery Center Vermont 200 Weekend will be jam-packed on September 15-16, with as many as 60 or more Sportsman Modifieds expected to attempt qualifying on Sunday. Special events are on tap for the Super Stock, Portland Glass Mini Stock, and Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprint divisions during the weekend, and the King of Dirt Racing Pro Stock Series will also crown its champion on Sunday.
