Twin 20’s On Tap This Friday At Big Diamond As Part Of George Stevenson Memorial

Story By: KENNETH BRUCE / BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – This Friday night will be the annual George Stevenson Memorial at the speedway presented by B & H Landscaping.

The George Stevenson Memorial has always been a marquee race on the track’s schedule and this year will be no exception. This annual event is to honor the late George Stevenson Sr and George Stevenson Jr who went out of their way to raise money for children suffering with cancer even as George Stevenson Jr was afflicted with the disease as well. It is a night to honor two men who were not only huge fans of Big Diamond Speedway but were also willing to give of themselves to help others.

As part of the special night, the track will hold a fan fest from 5:30 to 7:15. There will be cars from all divisions on display in the grandstand area. The track will have pig roast free to all fans while supplies last. There will also be music for the fans and bike giveaways for the kids. A huge Fireworks display during intermission will also be part of the night’s festivities.

The always fan popular Twin 20’s return this Friday for the Mattera’s General & Electrical Contracting 358 Modifieds. Ryan Godown, Duane Howard and Craig Von Dohren lead the way in the Modified division with two wins each so far in 2018 with each looking to extend their win total. Upset winners have always been a part of a twin 20’s program and with the quality of drivers each and every week at Big Diamond Speedway the prospect of that happening this week is very possible.

It will also be a big night for the USS Achey Sportsman division. Multi-time winners Alex Yankowski and Craig Whitmoyer will both be looking to cash in this week on the big $1000 first place prize that goes to the winner. As an added bonus, the winner of the feature event this Friday will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the July 27th Leindecker Racing Engines Sportsman Summer Classic paying a hefty $5000 to the victor.

The Savage 61 Road Runners will be back in action as part of the night’s exciting program. The Road Runner feature race is always hotly contested and a favorite of the fans. The Road Runners will race for a first-place prize this week of $400.

Pits gates will open a half hour earlier this Friday at 5:00pm to give the teams time to unload their cars for the fan fest activities. Warmups will get underway at 7:30pm.

General admission for this Friday is $25, Seniors admission is $23, Kids 11-12 $10, with kids 10 and under free. As always, active military with ID are free
