NYSSCA To Present Action-Packed Six Division Show Friday At Afton

Story By: JR KENNERUP / AFTON MOTORSPORTS PARK – AFTON, NY – This coming Friday night June 22nd, the Afton Motorsports Park will present an action packed six division show of racing. Competing on the table top smooth racing surface will be the ZMK Construction Modifieds, Chambers & O’ Hara Open Sportsman, Butler Auto Sales Crate Sportsman, The Trophy Guy IMCA Modifieds, Rinker Insurance Agency Street Stocks, and the Four Cylinder Trucks. The fine folks of the New York State Stock Car Association ( NYSSCA ) is sponsoring the evening of racing.

NYSSCA under the direction of John Keegan is an association that helps anyone associated with racing who is a member of NYSSCA and they get injured at the race track. NYSSCA steps in and helps out the injured party until they get back on their feet. Drivers, owners, crew members, members of the media, track promoters, race fans can all become members of NYSSCA by joining for just $25 per year. All monies collected go directly to injured people associated with racing.

Some added incentive to the Rinker Insurance Street Stock division sees them running for $100 additional first place money courtesy of Hot Rod’s Auto Detailing .

The last two weeks of racing have seen almost perfect racing conditions for the racers as the early season rough conditions of the track have been straightened out for good. This has led to some outstanding racing taking place in all divisions with some new faces being found in contention for the feature wins.

This Friday night June 22nd sees pit gates opening at 4 pm with grandstands opening at 4:30 pm. There will be a drivers meeting taking place at 5:50 pm with hot laps starting at 6:15 pm and the first heat goes green at 7 pm.

Admission prices for the pit area where no track membership / license is required is $30. Grandstand admission for adults is $12, seniors age 62 and up are $10, youth aged 9 to 14 are $5, and 8 and under are free with a paid adult admission.

VINTAGE PALOOZA WEEKEND JUST AROUND THE CORNER FOR AFTON MOTORSPORTS PARK

For the second year in row the Afton Motorsports Park will take a weekend and recognize the stars and cars of yesteryear. This year Vintage Palooza Weekend will take place at Afton Motorsports Park on Friday and Saturday June 29th and 30th.

On Friday night the 29th a full racing program will take place at the Afton Motorsports Park with a special visit of the CRSA Sprints. Also on the Friday night racing card will be the ZMK Construction Modifieds, Chambers & O’ Hara Open Sportsman, Butler Auto Sales Crate Sportsman, The Trophy Guy IMCA Modifieds, and Four Cylinder Trucks. All evening long on the midway will be many of the cars from yesteryear on display and the drivers who originally drove these cars too.

On Saturday morning the 30th the vintage cars will receive track time at Afton Motorsports Park. Expected to be on display and also partake in on track racing exhibition will be Sprint Cars, Midgets, Coupes, Coaches, and many more other divisions.

Admission prices for the weekend are as follows; on Friday June 29th pit admission with no track license / membership required is $30, grandstands are $14, seniors age 62 and up are $12, youth aged 9 to 14 are $7, and 8 and under are free. While on Saturday June 30th admission is FREE.

Gate times for Vintage Palooza Weekend are as follows; Friday June 29th pits open at 4 pm, grandstands open at 4:30 pm, CRSA heat in engines at 5:40 pm, hot laps at 6:10 pm, and first heat at 7 pm. Saturday June 30th sees all activity getting underway at 10 am.
