Brett Hearn’s Big Show X Will Surely Have You Excited At Albany-Saratoga Tuesday

Column By: LAURIE FALLIS / RPW – MALTA, NY – With one of the biggest shows of the year set to take place at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway this coming Tuesday night, drivers and fans are gearing up for what will be a spectacular night of racing with one driver going home with a big chuck of Brett Hearn’s money in their pocket. It’s time for the Big Show X.

Brett has been working on getting the show organized to make sure all is in place for this great event. There has been seven different winners in this event with two drivers, Billy Decker and Jimmy Phelps, having won it twice each. Other drivers taking the loot include Tim McCredie, Stewart Friesen, Danny Johnson, Bobby Varin and the event promoter himself. As an interesting factk, Decker is the only driver to post a top 10 finish in every Big Show run.

The show is also a Super DIRTcar Series event and Hearn has been having a tough time on tour so far in 2018. He does well time trials but has been struggling in the feature. With this being his home track, the “Jersey Jet” will be looking to become the first multiple feature winner in the Modified division at the “Great Race Place” this season as nobody has been able to do so as of yet.

The promotion team has some special things going on at this year’s event. One item in particular is the “pick the quick” contest. This is were fans choose who they think will be the top five drivers that will have the fastest time, the best part is that it does not have to be in order. If you get it correct, you could win $1,000. In case of ties, the money will be split. Also, four out of the five correct answers will get you an upgrade to the pits, so make sure you get your entries in when you get to the track.

A big draw for this year’s show will be one of the special entrants in the race. Scheduled to be on hand will be the “Herminator,” Kenny Wallace, who will be driving Willy and Becky Auchmoody’s Teo Pro Car, powered by a potent Kevin Enders powerplant. The car will be numbered 36 and will be representing Alzheimer’s awareness.

Wallace loves racing on the dirt but has only run a Big Block a handful of times in his career. The veteran is ready to come to upstate New York and get it on with the best of the best in Dirt Modified racing. He will be an great addition to the event, getting to see how he will handle the machine. We wish him luck and hope he enjoys his time at the speedway.

A multi-time Super DIRT Week champion will also be on hand…in particular, the driver that shook up the world of Dirt Modified racing with his legendary Batmobile. Gary Balough will be signing copies of his new book that he has written. Hearing of his career myself, I bet it is an amazing read.

I am looking forward to the Big Show on Tuesday as I get to enjoy it in a whole different aspect. I can not wait.

Grandstands gates open at 4pm while the pit gates open at 3.

Also on the card for the night will be the Sportsman who will be having twin features with both races getting a nice payout. It will be features only and their will be plenty of them on hand, that’s for sure.

Well folks, who will it be taking Brett Hearn’s money this year? I will be rooting to see a first-time winner that’s a hometown regular. Best of luck to all the drivers and have a safe voyage around the “Great Race Place.” I hope you all can make it to the 10th running of the “BIG SHOW.” It’s going to be HUGE.

Until then be safe and we will see you at the races. Thank you to the families back home that have loved ones keeping us safe. “GOD BLESS”
