Triple Thunder Triller On Tap At Grandview Sunday Night With 21st Annual Traffic Jam
Story By: BOB MILLER / THUNDER ON THE HILL – BECHTELSVILLE, PA – The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series opens their 29th season of competition at Grandview Speedway on Sunday, May 27.
On the agenda, is the 21st Annual Traffic Jam – a unique event that features the Big-Block and Small-Block Modifieds competing in a 40 Lap event that pays a whopping $5,000 to the race winner, and includes a lucrative $1,000 payday for tenth, and $500 to start the main event.
Rich in history, the Traffic Jam event has presented some of the best competition and a who’s who of past winners including Brett Hearn, Matt Sheppard, Tim McCreadie, Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, Alan Johnson, Frank Cozze, Rick Laubach, Danny Johnson, Tim Fuller, and Jimmy Horton. Grandview Speedway regular competitor and current point leader Brett Kressley recorded a thrilling victory in the 2017 Traffic Jam event.
To maximize the opportunity for area competitors, a special rule package has been created which will allow both Hoosier and American Racer tires, as well as, a variety of engine/weight combinations.
The 21st Annual Traffic Jam will continue its legacy on Sunday, May 27 celebrating Memorial Day at the Berks County one-third-mile dirt track. Grandview’s Sportsman program, one of the most competitive divisions in the region, will join the program for a $1,300-to-win, 25-lap main event.
Rounding out the Triple Thunder Thriller event will be the MASS Sprint Car Series, where Eddie Wagner will shoot for three-straight victories after scoring wins in the Series’ two opening events.
Grandstand Gates open at 5 PM, where Delaware Auto Exchange – the primary sponsor of the MASS Sprint Cars – will present the first 150 fans with Delaware Auto Exchange koozies.
The Pioneer Pole Buildings Mobile Sales Unit will be on display in the mid-way, along with all of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series mainstay promotions including: the Low Down & Dirty Radio Show pre-race Meet and Greet, pit area tours, the Inside/Out Experience – where fans can watch hot laps from the infield, Joe ‘The Pizza Dude’ offering up free pizzas to the rowdiest fans, give-a-ways, and appearances by Miss Thunder on the Hill.
Helping to celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend will be a special fireworks display before the start of the main event.
Spectator gates will open at 5 PM, with racing action set for 7:30 PM. Adult General Admission is $25, Children 6-11 are $10, and Children 5 and Under are Free of Charge. Pit Area pricing is $35, and a license is not required.
Race fans interested in early admission can take part in our Advance Ticket Reserve. Advance tickets are available by calling 443-513-4456. You can leave a message with your name, contact number, and the number of tickets you’re requesting. Tickets may be picked up and paid for at the Grandview Speedway will call window on race night after 4:00 PM. Advance ticket holders are eligible to enter the grandstands at 4:30 PM a full half-hour before General Admission tickets go on sale.
NAPA Auto Parts continues their long run with the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series as the title sponsor joined by Pioneer Pole Buildings, Levan Machine and Truck Equipment and GALCO Business Communications.
