Trenca Overcomes Tough Pill Draw During Debut At Lernerville Speedway
Story By: SHAWN MILLER / MUCCI MOTORSPORTS – SARVER, PA – Joe Trenca rebounded from a tough pill draw last Friday night during his debut at Lernerville Speedway.
“We started last in the heat and literally the other drivers in my heat race were All Stars,” he said. “It was touch to make any passes.”
The Mucci Motorsports driver finished where he started – eighth – in the heat race. That relegated Trenca to the B Main, which he won after starting seventh.
“We got a couple of cars on the first lap and took the lead on Lap 2,” he said. “I ran the extreme bottom. I was happy with the speed we had in the B Main.”
Trenca lined up on the outside of the eighth row for the A Main.
“In the feature we were all over,” he said. “You have to move around a little bit. We made some gains and built some confidence. It was a good night. To never be there and see the place, we were happy with the way it turned out.”
Trenca maneuvered to a 10th-place finish, which was his second top 10 of the season and it marked the second-best 410 result of his career.
Saturday’s Patriot Sprint Tour event at Woodhull Raceway in Woodhull, N.Y., rained out.
Trenca will join the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints this weekend for races on Friday at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., and Saturday at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y.
“We’re really excited,” he said. “We’ve ran well at both tracks. We changed our shock package from 410 to our 360 car so we’re excited for the opportunities to run well and up front this weekend.”
