RUSH Sprints Make Series Debut In Wednesday Night Series Kickoff At Lernerville
Story By: GARY HEEMAN / LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY – SARVER, PA – Wednesday nights are just about to get wilder as The Action Track opens their RK Virgile Wednesday Night Can’t Wait For The Weekend Mayhem Series makes it’s debut on Wednesday, May 16.
The three division show will run on every third Wednesday through September. The RUSH Sprints will be joined by the American Steel Processing 4 Cylinders and the Gellners Sales and Service UTV’s, making for a very affordable and entertaining evening of racing.
Making their debut as the newest series of cars racing under the RUSH banner, the Wingless Sprints of the RUSH Sprint Cars are featured on Wednesday night and they should be a pleasure to watch. The division has received a great deal of interest thus far in their inaugural campaign. As many of 20 cars are said to be completed or nearing completion which is an outstanding number for a start up division. They’ll be part of our upcoming RK Virgile Wednesday Night Mayhem Series starting in May and should provide a very entertaining brand of racing. Early participants that have some name recognition include former Gale Ruth Jr., Arnie Kent, Mike Lutz and former Late Model driver Chad Ruhlman. The cars and series provide the opportunity for former drivers from the 410 Winged Sprint ranks, or drivers looking to gain experience in racing, a chance to compete in a cost friendly manner while still enjoying a competitive and level playing field.
The RUSH Sprints will also be in action at Lernerville on June 1 as part of the Arctic Cat All Star Sprint Car Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars makeup date and again on June 29 as part of our Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series show while also joining the action on August 31 as part of our Sprint Car Spectacular and on October, 12-13 in the annual Steel City Stampede.
The American Steel Processing 4 Cylinders will also be joining the festivities on a semi-regular basis for the first time as they will be a part of the action on all six Wednesday nights as well as at the Steel City Stampede in 2018. Their thrilling brand of racing action has seen some very competitive racing over the years in their limited appearances at The Action Track and they will be looking to expand on that this year as they battle for bragging rights and a place in a year end point fund as well.
UTV’s began turning laps at Lernerville last year as part of our special Summer Vacation and Back to School Bus race nights in 2017 and will be a tremendous amount of fun to watch as they drive on a specially prepared course that uses much of the 4/10’s of a mile surface, with part of the action taking place off of the backstretch and through the infield. Presented by Gellners Sales and Service, the vehicles are expected to provide thrilling moments and great racing.
Pits will open at 4 PM with grandstands opening at 5 PM and racing is set to get underway at 7 PM. General admission is $10 while children 10 and under are free of charge. Pit passes are available for $25 for DIRTcar Members and $30 for non-members. We look forward to seeing you there.
