Miley Opens 2018 Season With Ultimate NE Top-Ten; West Virginia Visit Ahead
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / JARED MILEY RACING – PITTSBURGH, PA – Western Pennsylvania super late model hotshot, Jared Miley, opened his 2018 campaign with a trip to Maryland, joining the Ultimate Northeast Super Late Model Series at Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday, March 31.
Miley, aboard the Joe Corrado-owned/Blue Mountain Energy/Penn Star Ventures/Colussy Chevrolet/Jay’s Auto Wrecking/No. 10, finished seventh during the $4,000-to-win, Ultimate Northeast opener, earning a spot in the 30-lap program by dominating his respective heat race. The Pittsburgh native started fourth on the feature grid, but an opening lap shuffle forced Miley back to seventh.
“We didn’t get the start that we needed. We started on the outside and that ended up being our demise,” Miley said, who was one of 29 cars entered for the Ultimate Northeast opener. “In order to maintain your spot, or gain any, you had to get to the bottom in a hurry. That was just the way the track was. Regardless, it was a great effort by our team. To open the season with a top-ten against that level of competition is a great thing. We’ll try again on Saturday in West Virginia.”
Jared Miley’s 2018 campaign will continue on Saturday, April 7, with another round of Ultimate Northeast Super Late Model Series competition, this time at America’s Baddest Bullring; Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia. Miley will battle the best of the northeast for a $5,000 top prize on Saturday evening, working to add another Earl Hill Memorial title to his already impressive racing resume.
“Tyler County Speedway has always been good to us,” Miley continued, a two-time Earl Hill Memorial champion. “We’ve been fortunate enough to win there, so hopefully we can get another one this weekend.”
