Tyler Thompson To Open Outdoor Schedule This Weekend At Georgetown

Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / TEAM TAPOUT RACING – OSWEGO, NY – While some drivers are eager to run their first events of the calendar year this coming weekend at Georgetown Speedway in Delaware, Tyler Thompson is simply ready to move onto the next phase of his extensive 2018 season.

Thompson, who has been competing in several forms of indoor racing since the beginning of the year including the Indoor Auto Racing Championship for TQ Midgets, is now set to open his outdoor racing campaign as he takes part in the Melvin J. Joseph Memorial Weekend at Georgetown Speedway on Saturday, March 17.

Wheeling his No. 98T DIRTcar Sportsman Modified, Thompson will battle with some of the best in the business in an attempt to lay claim to the $1,000 prize in the night’s Short Track Super Series L&J Sheet Metal 602 Sportsman main event.

“The indoor season has been great and we aren’t quite done with it yet, but I am excited to get back on the dirt and behind the wheel of our Team Tapout Sportsman,” said Thompson.

The Melvin J. Joseph Memorial Weekend is the opening event of the season at Georgetown Speedway and will see two nights of racing action.

On Friday, March 16 the Small-Block Modifieds, RUSH Late Models, Chargers, and Super Trucks will all be in action with open practice slated for Modifieds and Sportsman.

The following evening will feature the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Modifieds with a 49-lap $6,949 to win main event as well as the L&J Sheet Metal 602 Sportsman $1,000 to win special.
