Tony Stewart Back On The Podium; Finishes Second With USCS At North Alabama

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – After a few weekends away from open wheel competition to fulfill NASCAR commitments on the West Coast, Tony Stewart returned to the driver seat of his Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 winged sprint car and rejoined the United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour for a one-night stand at the North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

The recent USCS main event winner finished second on Saturday night during his visit to northern Alabama, utilizing a front row starting position to earn a second consecutive USCS podium finish. Smoke kicked off his evening with a heat race victory after starting from the outside-pole, solidifying enough passing points and heat race finishing points to lock himself on the pole for the 30-lap finale.

“It feels good to be back in a sprint car,” Tony Stewart explained. “It was a good night for this team. Marty and Jimmy continue to give me great race cars. When starting from the pole, any finishing position other than a win can be a little disappointing, but we’re proud of our efforts. We’ll work to finish one spot higher when we get to Texas in a few weeks.”

Coinciding with NASCAR weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, Stewart will return to sprint car competition on Friday and Saturday, April 6-7, when the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion joins the ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series National Tour for the Tony Stewart presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

Stewart is a former main event winner against the national-level, 360 cubic inch series, taking the checkers at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas (Nev.) in 2010.
