Sammy Swindell Seeking Success This Weekend During ASCS Sprint Action At Devil’s Bowl

Story By: SHAWN MILLER / SAMMY SWINDELL RACING – GERMANTOWN, TN – Sammy Swindell certainly knows how to get around Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

Swindell has been victorious at the half-mile oval in Mesquite, Texas, in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.

“The track is pretty unique where the backstretch is higher than the frontstretch,” he said. “Both ends are 180 degrees different. Going into turn one is tight and then it opens up. When you get to turn three it’s a big sweeper. It tightens up a lot off turn four. You have to have a car that will work in all those different areas.”

Swindell is hopeful he and the A.G. Rains owned No. 3 will have just that when the duo invades Devil’s Bowl Speedway this Friday and Saturday for the 45th annual Spring Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com. It will be the team’s first race of the season.

“Starting the year the goal is to go out and win every race,” Swindell said. “It’s a good place for us to start. We’ve run good there and I’ve won a lot of races there. It gives you a lot of confidence going there that you definitely have a chance to win that first race and start that streak.”

Swindell has recorded 15 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour wins during his career, including two in 1995 and one in 2010 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

He also has 12 career World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series victories at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
