Kerry Madsen Extends Top-10 Streak In Las Vegas With World Of Outlaws

Story By: SHAWN MILLER / BIG GAME MOTORSPORTS – PERRIS, CA – Kerry Madsen extended his top-10 streak at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas to six straight seasons thanks to a hard charging effort last Wednesday during the opening night of the FVP Outlaw Showdown.

The Muddy sponsored Big Game Motorsports team qualified ninth quickest in its group to kick off the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition at the half-mile oval. Madsen then placed seventh in a heat race, which relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. He won the race after starting fourth to garner a transfer into the back of the A Main.

“We didn’t qualify well, which is pretty unusual for us,” he said. “We got the car really good in the LCS and we had a good run in the A Main. I had good restarts and had a good race car. We kept moving forward all race.”

Madsen maneuvered from 21st to a seventh-place finish, which gives him at least one top-10 finish per season at the track for six straight seasons.

The team returned to the track on Thursday. Madsen timed in 13th quickest in his group before he advanced from seventh to fourth place in a heat race to lock into the main event.

“We qualified bad again, but we had a good heat race,” he said. “We were going forward in the A Main. I just made a mistake and clipped an infield tire. It was extremely disappointing, but it is what it is. That happens in racing.”

Madsen was battling for a top 10 when he was involved in a race-ending incident in turn two.

Saturday’s SoCal Showdown at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., rained out.
