Proud Motorsports Chicken BBQ Fundraiser Set For April 8th

Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / PROUD MOTORSPORTS – OSWEGO, NY – Proud Motorsports has announced the date for the fifth annual Camden Proud Chicken BBQ Fundraiser which will return to Lighthouse Lanes on Sunday, April 8th.

Banking off his best season yet at Oswego Speedway which was highlighted by three second place finishes, third in the championship standings, and a third place time trial and fifth place effort in the Bud Light Classic 75 this past September, 19 year-old Proud is looking forward to his fifth full-time season at the Steel Palace.

“We are looking forward to the upcoming season as well as getting things started for the fifth annual Camden Proud Chicken BBQ Fundraiser,” he said. “Our team has been fortunate to welcome back several returning sponsors ahead of 2018, but the barbecue continues to be a huge part of funding our program. I’m hoping for another successful event this April and we’re happy to announce its return to Lighthouse Lanes.”

Once again in 2018, either Chicken BBQ or Pulled Pork dinners will be available for a $10 donation to Proud Motorsports. The dinners come with two sides and a dessert. New this year, entertainment is planned as part of the fundraiser coupled with the return of some of the popular raffle items that we’ve seen in the past.

“The community has been very generous in their support of the fundraiser for the past four years,” Proud added. “This has given us a very nice boost in the amount of attention the event has been getting. We’ve had gift cards, t-shirts, power tools, wine baskets, pretty much everything the past several years and we will have a similar setup in 2018. There will be something for everyone.”

Pre-sale tickets for the 2018 Camden Proud Chicken BBQ Fundraiser are on order and will soon be made available by stopping at Step One Creative or Ken’s Body Shop in Oswego. You can email a team representative at proudmotorsports@gmail.com to setup ticket pre-sale and pick up. The fundraiser will run from 1pm until sold out on April 8th, but all pre-sale orders must be picked up by 2pm.

Opening Day at Oswego Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, May 26th which will see the lid lifter Jim Shampine and Tony White Memorial events for the Supermodifieds and SBS featuring Jim Shampine Memorial ‘Twin 50’s’ for the Supers. The speedway’s annual open practice session will commence a week earlier on Saturday, May 19.
