Evergreen Raceway, Race Of Champions Join Together For 2018 Season
Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – ST. JOHNS, PA – Evergreen Raceway in St. Johns, Pa., and Race of Champions Series management are excited to announce plans that have the historic Pennsylvania track and sanctioning body working together throughout the 2018 season.
The opening day Plum Air 100 on Sunday, April 15 for Late Models at Evergreen will provide a guaranteed starting position to the winner for Race of Champions Weekend on September 27, 28 and 29 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania.
Modified racers will have an opportunity at a guaranteed starting position on Friday, August 10 as part of the Tony Fisher Memorial race. The winner will earn a guaranteed starting position in the 68th Annual Race of Champions 250 which will run on Saturday, September 29.
The Race of Champions Super Stock Series will debut at the track on Sunday, May 20 as a part of their Series led by Tim Gullo of Elmira, N.Y., who is the defending Series champion.
“This is a great step for us at Evergreen,” offered Director of Racing Operations Jeff Owler. “We are excited in regard to our season and all of the additional interest that our track has generated. This gives our competitors some additional recognition in addition to the opportunity to compete with a series and an event as great as the Race of Champions.”
Evergreen will take the weekend of the Race of Champions at Lake Erie Speedway off giving competitors and fans the opportunity to attend the Northeast’s marquee event that culminates with the running of the 68th Annual Race of Champions 250.
