Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RYAN SMITH RACING – KUNKLETOWN, PA – The “Kunkletown Kid” Ryan Smith wrapped up his 2017 campaign officially during the recent weekend, joining the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the annual World Finals.
Qualifying for each of the contested main events, Smith earned one top-ten finish during his three-day campaign in North Carolina; his second top-ten finish of the season against the Greatest Show On Dirt.
“It was a great effort by our entire team. The amount of talent at the World Finals was exceptional. To be up front during all of that is exciting,” Smith said, who finished tenth during the World of Outlaws finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. “We had one hell of a season. To think it’s over is kinda tough to fathom. We have a lot of work to do and a lot of plans to iron out. We’ll announce our game plan down the road.”
Ryan Smith will enter the off-season as a three-time Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions main event winner in 2017, two of which at the Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio. Plans for the new year will be announced in the coming weeks.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support and commitment,” said Ryan Smith. “Tom and Sherry Leidig, Warko Group, Specialty Rigging, Auto Electric of Jupiter, Rick’s Auto Body, Trent Gower, and so many more. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. It takes a lot of time, dedication and hard work to keep a team out on the road, as well as competitive. It was an amazing year. I’m already looking forward to the next.”
