Trenca Ending Season Friday At Outlaw With Patriot Sprint Tour
Story By: SHAWN MILLER / MUCCI MOTORSPORTS – CLAY, NY – Joe Trenca is scheduled to wrap up his racing season this weekend.
The Mucci Motorsports driver will compete on Friday at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., with the Patriot Sprint Tour.
“I really enjoy racing at Outlaw Speedway,” he said. “It’s one of our better tracks. It has always seemed to suit our style so it’s always a confidence boost going there.”
Trenca has earned six top 10s in six career starts at Outlaw Speedway, including four this season. He posted a career-best runner-up result at the oval last month.
Trenca capped his 410ci winged sprint car season on Monday at Ransomville Speedway for The Big “R” Outlaw Shootout with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. He qualified 29th quickest before advancing from eighth to seventh place in a heat race and from ninth to sixth place in the Last Chance Showdown to miss a transfer by only two positions.
“We made progress in the heat race and Last Chance Showdown, but we were buried pretty deep by our qualifying time,” he said. “We’re looking to do more 410 racing next year and that’s an area we are focusing on improving. Qualifying is everything when it comes to racing with the Outlaws.”
Sunday’s Empire State Challenge at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y., rained out.
