Ryan Smith Sweeps At Mansfield; Empire Super Sprints Finale Ahead

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RYAN SMITH RACING – KUNKLETOWN, PA – Ending his 2017 Arctic Cat All Star campaign with one of his most impressive performances of the season, the “Kunkletown Kid” Ryan Smith went two for three during his most recent weekend of competition, highlighted with a doubleheader sweep at Mansfield Motor Speedway on October 13.

Smith earned a total of $10,000 for his Friday night dominance; the fifth driver in Arctic Cat All Star history to accomplish two victories in one day.

“Just an unbelievable night at Mansfield. I can’t think of a better way to describe it,” Ryan Smith said, pilot of the Tom and Sherry Leidig/Warko Group/Rick’s Auto Body/Auto Electric of Jupiter, FL/Specialty Rigging/No. 59. “I owe Eric Slade of Slade Shocks a big part of Friday night’s success. He allowed us to use a set of his shocks. They made a huge difference in our program.”

Smith concluded his Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions campaign officially on Saturday night, October 14, at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The Arctic Cat All Star championship runner-up finished seventh during the #LastCallForMethanol main event; his 29th top-ten finish of the season with “America’s Series.”

Despite his Arctic Cat All Star commitments complete, Smith’s season will not end. Instead, the “Kunkletown Kid” will make his way back to Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, New York, on Friday, October 20, for the Empire Super Sprints finale worth $3,000. Smith has been victorious at Outlaw Speedway in 2017, claiming $5,000 during the Arctic Cat All Star appearance earlier this season.

“We don’t have all of the details ironed out just yet, but the plan is to head to Outlaw Speedway and drive a car for a different car owner,” Smith explained. “I’m sure we’ll have those plans finalized soon.”
