DIRTcar Point Battles Heat Up At Brockville During Northeast Fall Nationals
Story By: COLBY GORNIEWICZ / DIRTCAR – CONCORD, NC – Coming off one of the biggest events in Northeast Modified racing, the Super DIRTcar Series and the DIRTcar Racing Sportsman Modifieds head to Brockville Ontario Speedway for a doubleheader Friday Night special with the season-long championship points battle on the line.
The DIRTcar Racing Sportsman Modifieds will conclude their season tour this Friday Night at Brockville Ontario Speedway. Montezuma, NY’s Dave Marcuccilli looks to take his first-ever DIRTcar Racing championship on the strength of his five tour wins in 2017, including wins at Brewerton Speedway and Oswego Speedway during the 46th annual NAPA Super DIRT Week. Rocky Warner and Ron Davis III are the only two drivers with a mathematical chance to catch Marcuccilli for the title.
Following Friday’s points finale, many of the elite DIRTcar Sportsman teams will pack their bags and head South to the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the OneDirt World Short Track Championship. Though it is not a points event, the top 12 in points own provisional starting spots for the One Dirt World Short Track Championship 30-lap Sportsman Feature.
Also in action at Brockville will be the stars of the Super DIRTcar Series for the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals. Super Matt Sheppard picked up the big $50,000 payday in thrilling fashion at NAPA Super DIRT Week. With this victory Sheppard regained the season-long championship points lead over Billy Decker by 46 points. With only three races remaining on the 2017 schedule for the Super DIRTcar Series, every lap is important in the championship battle.
The Pit Gate opens at 3:00 p.m., with the Drivers Meeting set for 5:30 p.m. Hot laps will begin at 5:45 p.m., with Sportsman Modified time trials getting underway at 6:15pm. The Sportsman main event will be a 50-lap feature. The Super DIRTcar Series will conclude the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals with their 100-lap feature.
