Ryan Smith Will Hunt For $50K During Williams Grove National Open
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RYAN SMITH RACING – KUNKLETOWN, PA – With his Arctic Cat All Star schedule on hold until October 7, the “Kunkletown Kid” Ryan Smith will switch focus and join the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at the famed Williams Grove Speedway for a shot at $50,000.
The Champion Racing Oil National Open will headline competition at Williams Grove Speedway during the upcoming weekend, set to ignite with back-to-back preliminary programs worth $10,000 on Thursday and Friday, September 28-29, followed by the $50,000-to-win finale on Saturday, September 30. Smith is certainly no stranger to victory lane at Williams Grove Speedway, nor with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
“I had a weekend off for my sister’s wedding, but I’m ready to get back to work,” Ryan Smith said, a former Williams Grove Speedway feature winner, as well as a World of Outlaws winner at Port Royal (PA) Speedway. “We’ve been victorious against the World of Outlaws before, so we’ll attempt to do it again this weekend for an even bigger payday. I can’t thank my team and supporters enough for this opportunity. The best in the country will be racing at the National Open this weekend. I’m thankful to be a part of it.”
The “Kunkletown Kid” will represent the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions during his three-day campaign at the world-famous paperclip. Smith is currently second in the Arctic Cat All Star championship standings, accumulating one victory thus far in 2017.
Steve Buckwalter was the substitute for Ryan Smith during the 36th Annual Four Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway on Saturday, September 23. Buckwalter qualified for the 25-lap main event and finished 19th.
