Danny Dietrich Aims For Dirt Classic Win At Lincoln
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / DANNY DIETRICH RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – Danny Dietrich has been close, finishing second in 2016 after leading five laps, but has yet to capture a Dirt Classic title at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway. After a year of waiting, the Gettysburg native will finally have another opportunity to collect the $20,000 top prize and become just the third Dirt Classic champion since its inaugural event in 2014.
Headlining action in the Pigeon Hills on Saturday, September 23, the 4th Annual Dirt Classic will feature Pennsylvania’s finest, as well as a few of the nation’s top-talented teams.
“We could say this about a lot of races, but we really want to win this one. We were close last year. We’ve been strong enough at Lincoln this year to know where we need to be and what we have to do. I think we have a great shot,” Dietrich said about the Dirt Classic, a winner of seven main events at Lincoln Speedway in 2017.
Before making the trip to Abbottstown, Dietrich, pilot of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Gsell’s Whitetails/Hickory Run Orchards/Carlisle Auto Salvage/CATS Used Truck Parts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Bowman Block & Head Repair/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48, will visit Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg on Friday, September 22. Plans for Thursday, September 21, will be released later this week. A potential visit to Susquehanna (PA) Speedway is in the works.
Dietrich will enter the weekend with a pair of recent top-ten finishes to his credit, one of which against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions during the Jim Nace Memorial/National Open at Selinsgrove (PA) Speedway. The former All Star winner charged from 12th to finish seventh on Saturday night; his 13th top-ten finish of the 2017 season against “America’s Series.”
