Creeden Takes Thunder Mountain Win With Him Into Short Track Super Series Event At Woodhull
Column By: RYAN HILL / RPW – WURTSBORO, NY – Dan Creeden extended his Thunder Mountain Speedway points championship lead on Sunday with a win in his Smoker’s Choice 16X Hig Fab modified. Racing is normally held on Saturdays at the three eighths banked clay oval, but with a rainout on Saturday the racing action was moved to Sunday.
“We were able to try some things at the start of the night, but we didn’t like the changes so we decided to just go back to our basic set up” said Creeden.
The 16X was good after going back to the basic set up and Creeden was able to climb to 4th place when he was greeted with a timely restart that sent him on his way to another win on a track that Dan points out was in really good shape considering all the rain they got the night prior.
Next up for the 16X team is The Short Track Super Series’ ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 53’ at Woodhull Raceway. The event round number 7 of the nine race STSS Halmar Region season. Racing was slated for Tuesday, but due to unfavorable forecasts the race will be held Wednesday, August 23rd.
The moved date and momentum from the win bolster Creeden’s confidence heading into a big race at a track that he enjoys running.
“I am looking forward to bouncing back at Woodhull after we have had a couple bad STSS shows. I am looking forward getting another crack at it, and I think anytime you get a win it gives you some momentum.”
Creeden adds “I like Woodhull we ran well there and we were tracking down Stewie (Friesen) when we broke last year. The rain delay for the STSS show has helped us to recover from racing Thunder Mountain on Sunday and gave us needed time to cross all the T’s and dot all the I’s. Hopefully we have better luck this year. I would like to thank all of our sponsors on the #dcexpress.”
