Ryan Smith Will Hunt For Big Paydays During New York Swing

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RYAN SMITH RACING – KUNKLETOWN, PA – After what turned into three events in four days, Ryan Smith’s 2017 I-79 Summer Shootout campaign proved to be a success; scoring three consecutive top-ten feature finishes, two within the top-five, as well as an MSD Hard Charger Award after advancing 11 positions on Sunday evening at Tri-City (PA) Raceway Park.

When the weekend dust finally settled, Smith had accumulated fifth place finishes at Eriez (PA) Speedway and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, as well as a ninth place finish at Tri-City; the result of his hard charge from the outside of row ten. Smith’s weekend successes allowed the Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, native to remain second in the Arctic Cat All Star championship standings, now with 16 top-ten finishes on the season.

With momentum clearly on his side, Smith will now turn his focus toward a weekend triple-header in The Empire State, hunting Arctic Cat All Star victories, as well as major paydays, at Outlaw Speedway, Orange County Fair Speedway, and Lebanon Valley Speedway on Friday through Sunday, July 28-30, respectively. The New York visit will carry a $22,000 potential; $5,000-to-win at Outlaw Speedway, $10,000-to-win at Orange County Fair Speedway, and $7,000-to-win at Lebanon Valley Speedway.

Despite a major weekend directly in his viewfinder, Ryan Smith will first tackle New Egypt (NJ) Speedway later this evening (Tuesday, July 25) for Jersey Rush VII. The “Kunkletown Kid” will pilot the familiar Tom and Sherry Leidig-backed/Warko Group/Auto Electric of Jupiter, FL/Specialty Rigging/No. 59 during the mid-week special.

“Things have been pretty busy, to say the least,” Ryan Smith said. “Things have been going really well and I’m excited about that. We have a lot of great people associated with this team, Tom and Sherry Leidig especially. I wouldn’t be where I am without their hard work and dedication. Before we head to New York, we have a job to do later tonight in New Jersey. Bob Miller from TOTH Racing Series has partnered up with us for this event. We are hoping for big things. I’m ready.”
