Drivers Chasing Dave Shullick Jr. & Dave Cliff In Oswego’s Summer Championship

Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – The third consecutive event in as many weeks will commence this Saturday at Oswego Speedway in the ‘Summer Championship’ for the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS.

All of the action will begin with the start of hot laps at 4:30pm before group time trials will take place at 6:15pm. Racing will begin at 6:45pm.

Dave Shullick Jr. and Dave Cliff continue to expand their large points leads in their respective divisions.

Shullick has won three main events already in 2017 while the defending SBS champion Cliff is winless so far this season.

The Pathfinder Bank SBS division has seen five different winners in five shows through July 8, including two first time winners in Greg O’Connor and Jesse Bearup. Andrew Schartner, Mike Bond, and Jack Patrick have also visited victory lane this season.

While Shullick has been the clear cut favorite for victory week in and week out in the Supermodifieds, another first time winner in Keith Shampine, and most recently Michael Muldoon, have also made it to victory lane with Shampine thrilling a packed Oswego crowd while winning the Jim Shampine Memorial in honor of his uncle this past May.

Shullick leads his lately bad luck stricken teammate Otto Sitterly, defending champion Michael Barnes, four time podium finisher on the season Joe Gosek, and Shampine atop the standings.

Cliff leads Schartner in the SBS Road to the Championship by nearly 30 points ahead of Camden Proud, Dalton Doyle, and the most recent winner in the division, Jack Patrick.

The ‘Summer Championship’ event, implemented officially for both the Supermodified and SBS divisions back in 2014, has seen six different winners between the two classes including Randy Ritskes, Dave Danzer and Pat Lavery in the Supermodifieds and Russ Brown, Mark Castiglia and Dalton Doyle in the SBS.

All three of the defending SBS Summer Champions are expected to be in action this weekend including Brown, who will be making his second start with his brand new Hedger Chassis.

In the Supermodifieds, only Danzer is expected to join the field as far as former winners go, but he will be joined by the likes of Shullick, Gosek, Sitterly, Shampine, Muldoon, Dave Gruel, Jeff Abold, Tim Snyder, Brandon Bellinger, Lou LeVea Jr, Dan Connors, Hal LaTulip, Logan Rayvals, Bill Sharkey, Guard Nearbin, and more.
