The “DC Express” Steams Towards Afton’ Short Track Super Series Event
Story By: RYAN HILL / DAN CREEDEN RACING – WURTSBORO, NY – To say Dan Creeden has been hot as of late would be an understatement. Dan has parked the 16X in victory lane six times in the early months of 2017, three of those wins came in the last 2 weeks.
Dan was set to race at his Friday night home track Accord Speedway, but when rain cancelled the racing at Accord, the team had to change their plans. Dan and his team chose to tow out to The Afton Faigrounds to take their chances at Afton Motorsports Park’s Friday night event, a decision that would pay off.
“We didn’t know what we had in store for us at Afton” Dan said. “The car was good out of the box, we made a few adjustments, and next thing you know we were in victory lane.”
That has been the story of Dan Creeden’s 2017 season so far. They are a team willing to try new things, take some chances, and aim to be in victory lane at night’s end. Beyond the win, their success at Afton was beneficial to the team as they head into Wednesday’s Short Track Super Series North Region event, which happens to be at Afton.
Dan has had his share of bad luck on the STSS in 2017, and 2016’s third place point finish is a reminder to the team that they are a threat on the series. Currently the 16X is is eleventh in points, but have high hopes for the season when all is said and done in 2017.
Dan is proud of how the season is unfolding, bad luck aside “We have six wins and the points lead at our two home tracks, and Friday’s win at Afton is big considering how tough the competition is there. We need to maintain the same level of consistency and pace we are on now. In years passed we have hit a little lull, and we are trying to avoid that in 2017.”
At Thunder Mountain Speedway the 16X was lacking, and according to Dan the team feels fortunate to come home with a top 5.
Dan Creeden and the 16X team is back in action Wednesday June 21st at the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By VP Racing Fuels Round 3 of the STSS Halmar International North Region Afton Action 50. The event is a 50 lap $5,00 to win battle at the Afton Fairgrounds.
