Britten Records Podium Finish at Sharon Speedway

Story By: MANDEE PAUCH / PETER BRITTEN RACING – WEEDSPORT, NY – Peter Britten produced his second straight podium finish last Saturday at Sharon Speedway in the Weller’s No.23 Big Block Modified.

The action began on Friday at Albany-Saratoga Speedway for Britten.

Britten started eighth in his heat and qualified sixth.

“We weren’t very good,” Britten noted. “I can’t really pinpoint what it was. We were off the whole night.”

Britten rolled out for the feature on the inside of the eighth row.

“We were making changes and it didn’t seem to matter what we changed on the car we just couldn’t get it to handle for some reason,” he said. “It didn’t feel like the track was any different. It was a little bit of a mystery. We’re going to chalk that one up as a bad night.”

Britten placed twelfth in the Andy’s No.97 Big Block Modified.

Britten headed West to Sharon Speedway on Saturday.

“We were a little off in the heat race set up wise,” he said. “It’s been rough and fast the last couple of weeks. It kind of went opposite this week. We were a little free in the heat race.”

Britten qualified third from his fourth starting spot.

Britten and the team made a few changes after the heat race and netted himself a second-place finish to his teammate in the main event.

“We made some changes after the heat race but it looks like we made the right changes because we were the best two out of the race.”

It was the first time the Wellers ever had a one-two-finish at Sharon Speedway.

“To get one car in victory lane and the other car to cross in second is a pretty good morale booster,” Britten said. “We had our struggles there. Hopefully this is a good sign things are turning around for the better over there.”

Britten will return to action on Friday at Albany-Saratoga Speedway and Sunday at Five Mile Point Speedway for the Super DIRTcar Series race. Saturday is currently up in the air for the team.
