The Big Show Was Just About Perfect For Brett Hearn & Tim McCreadie

Column By: RAY ROGERS / RPW – MALTA, NY – With the closing of the Ringling Brothers & Barnum Baily Circus, there seems to be just one great show left on earth…Brett Hearn’s Big show!

The Super DIRTcar Series was in town Tuesday night for their annual stop at “The Great Race Place” and short of a big top and circus clowns, it was one the fans will surely remember.

Even with storms threatening all afternoon, promotor Brett Hearn was pleased with the show.

“Thing’s couldn’t have gone better,” Hearn said after the event. “I’m ecstatic. Don’t know how I can top this. but we’ll be thinking about it.”

Hearn and DIRTcar pulled out all the stops, making the event super fan-friendly and a real good time for all.

Super DIRTcar Modified heat race winners were Stewart Friesen, Hearn, Pat Ward, Billy Decker and Tim McCreadie. Consolations were won by Jeremy Wilder and Marc Johnson.

In the companion twin Sportsman feature events, Rocky Warner and Robert Bublak took home top prizes.

No, on to the Big Show. T-Mac, Tim McCreadie stunned the field of DIRTcar regulars, picking up the win from the sixth starting spot. McCreadie, a Lucas Oil Late Model regular, made a trip up north with faith his crew would have a solid piece for him to run.

“Coming in here and having success is hard to do no matter who you are,” he said. “Luckily, we’ve been here and kinda have a feel for what’s going on. I can’t thank my crew enough for making this happen.”

Tim also told me he plans to return to run a Big Block every chance he gets this season.

Stewart Friesen was second at the finish with Matt Sheppard third, Larry Wight fourth and Brett Hearn rounding out the top five.

Just because the “Big Show” is over doesn’t mean the racing is winding down. The Super DIRTcar Series travels to the Utica-Rome Speedway on July 2 and Albany-Saratoga will be back in action on Friday night so get out and enjoy the races!
