Danny Dietrich Scores Fourth Win In The Pigeon Hills
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / DANNY DIETRICH RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – For the fourth time in 2017, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich is a main event winner at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, this time driving forward from fifth on the feature grid to score $5,000 on National Fallen Firefighters Night on Saturday, June 10. For Dietrich, the victory increases his overall win total to five on the season in Pennsylvania Posse country, now tied with Lance Dewease as the overall win leader in Central Pennsylvania for 2017.
“Lincoln Speedway has turned into one heck of a place to race. Winning there never gets old,” Dietrich explained, a 35-time winner in the Pigeon Hills over the course of his career. “I think we were more than capable of winning at least two out of the three this weekend, but things don’t always go your way. I’m proud of this team and what we’ve been able to accomplish at Lincoln Speedway this season. We have a lot on our plate during the next two or three weeks. I’m excited to see how things unfold.”
Dietrich opened his recent weekend of competition with visits to Susquehanna (PA) Speedway and Williams Grove (PA) Speedway on Thursday and Friday, June 8-9, respectively, each resulting in top-ten performances, one of which well inside the top-five. The pilot of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Gsell’s Whitetails/Hickory Run Orchards/Carlisle Auto Salvage/CATS Used Truck Parts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Bowman Block & Head Repair/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48 finished second at Susquehanna Speedway after leading on a few different occasions, followed up with a seventh place performance at The Grove.
With the intent to further diversify his 2017 list of accomplishments, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich will now turn his attention toward a stretch of USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series starts in The Keystone State, planning to join the best, non-wing racers in the country for four events in Central Pennsylvania starting on Tuesday, June 13, at Grandview Speedway. It will be a first-ever USAC appearance for the current Central PA Sprint Series presented by Hoseheads.com point leader.
Piloting the Tom Buch-owned/Pace Performance/No. 13 during all non-wing starts, Dietrich’s USAC campaign will continue at Lincoln Speedway on June 14, Williams Grove Speedway on June 15, and Port Royal Speedway on June 17. A single start with the wing on will intermix with Dietrich’s USAC plans, also entering the winged portion of the sprint car doubleheader at the Port Royal “Speed Palace” on Saturday.
A busy week with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series will eventually transition into a trip to The Buckeye State, joining the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions for four Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket dates between June 18 and June 22. Dietrich will challenge “America’s Series” at Waynesfield Raceway Park on Sunday, June 18; Wayne County Speedway on Monday, June 19; Sharon Speedway on Tuesday, June 20; and the Muskingum County Speedway on Thursday, June 22.
Dietrich will return to weekly competition in Central Pennsylvania on Friday and Saturday, June 23-24, with visits to Williams Grove Speedway and Lincoln Speedway.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for the opportunities that I have,” Dietrich said. “We love to race and we want to race as much as we can. This is going to be a very demanding stretch for my team, but we are more than capable of being successful everywhere we go. I can’t wait to get back to Ohio.”
