Campbell Charges Forward At Lincoln Speedway
Story By: ANTHONY CORINI / MATT CAMPBELL RACING – FAWN GROVE, PA – It’s been an adversity-filled season for 2016 National Sprint Car Rookie of the Year, Matt Campbell. After being sidelined for a couple of weeks, the MCR #16 team headed west to make their debut at the famed Eldora Speedway during Ohio Speedweek. Unfortunately, their trip started and ended in hot laps as the team fought motor woes and called it an evening before time trials.
Campbell returned to the local scene this past Saturday at the Lincoln Speedway and picked up his first 410 heat race win in convincing fashion over a strong field of cars. Campbell was handicapped to 10th in the feature and spun to a stop to avoid a backwards car on lap four. Campbell tagged the rear, which at the time was 19th, and charged forward to an impressive seventh place finish.
Up next for Campbell is a weekend full of Pennsylvania Speedweek dates. “The plan is to run Friday and Saturday both weekends. If we can get off work in time, we would like to be at Lincoln Monday, too. It’s tough. All of us have to work so the mid-week shows are tough,” Ron Campbell said.
