Bobby Deleon Is Expanding His Racing Horizons In 2017

Story By: RYAN HILL / RPW – SOMERS, NY – Sportsman driver Bobby Deleon is expanding his racing resume this season, trying new tracks, learning and enjoying the adventure.

The young driver out of Somers, NY has moved on from Orange County Fair Speedway where he had been competing, setting his sights on to the challenges of learning new tracks, and embracing the trials and tribulations of stepping outside of his comfort zone.

Bobby has landed at Lebanon Valley as his defacto home track for 2017, but the team has plans to venture further out into the north east dirt track racing world.

“Making the switch to Lebanon Valley is a big change for me, as now I am racing with some of the top guys weekly.” Bobby said. “My goal for the season at Lebanon Valley is to make the best of everything, and have fun doing it. We are coming off of a top 5 at The Valley, so that is definitely a confidence booster.”

Deleon Racing does not have a set schedule for 2017; they plan to drop into tracks on Lebanon Valley off weeks. One track the team has stopped at so far is Thunder Mountain Speedway.

“Thunder Mountain is awesome. It is a great track with great people. I have really enjoyed going there, it has taught me a lot about short track racing. My only other short track experience has been at Accord Speedway.”

The last time the 27 team was at Thunder Mountain the night was a difficult one. Starting 7th in the heat race Bobby made his way up to 5th when with one lap to go he struck the yuke tire and in turn t boned by another car. The team worked diligently to get ready for the feature. In the feature he started 21st when a mechanical failure cut the night short, Bobby limped the 27 off the track, and the team headed home to get the car prepared for this week’s Lebanon Valley race.

Bobby has spent the following preparing and repairing his car. From front end work, changing torsion bars, to fixing the sheet metal the 27 team has been busy, but Bobby is assured the team will be ready to roll this Saturday at Lebanon Valley, with planned stops at racks such as Afton Motorsports Park, Skyline, and possibly Five Mile Point Speedway.
