Best Two Out Of Three For Danny Creeden

Column By: RYAN HILL / RPW – WURTSBORO, NY – The DC Express steamed through a weekend packed with racing picking up two wins. Dan Creeden started the weekend bringing his 16X HigFab Chassis powered by Bedell Racing Engines to Accord Speedway for their weekly shows Friday night.

The Bullring in The Catskills hasn’t seen the 16x in victory lane in 2017, but all that would change when Dan picked up the win from his 12th place starting position. Accord is in the driver out of Wurtsboro, NY’s backyard, and it is important to the team to do well there.

“We felt like we were missing something early on there (Accord), but we have seen consistent finishes” said Dan. “We finally hit on something and the car was awesome to drive. It always feels good to win at Accord in front of all of our family and friends.”

On Saturday the team towed to Thunder Mountain Speedway where the 2016 Modified Champion has already won, and hoped to keep the momentum going towards another track title. Dan has feels that the team just has the right package for Thunder Mountain, but also credits track owners the Spoonhowers with always giving the drivers a racy surface. Dan has learned that patience is key at Thunder Mountain, and feels that his success there can translate to other tracks he races at.

“Anytime you start to win consistently, or even just run up front it builds confidence. It also allows you to try and learn new things, because you can always go back to a proven solid baseline if it does not work.”

On Sunday The Super DIRTcar Series rolled into Five Mile Point Speedway. Creeden was admittedly behind the 8ball racing on Hoosier tires different than what the team is accustomed to. The team was able to get the car right for the feature though, and Dan was off and running with some of the best big block modified drivers in the north east.

“I was saving the tires and got into a group of cars around 10th place or so” Dan said. “We had some unfortunate contact with Rich Scagliotta which broke the left rear axle tube, and ended our night. It was pretty disappointing, I think we would have had a top ten for sure, maybe a top five or six if things had played out well. I have to thank Richard Smith and George Shakelton for putting it together for us to run and be competitive.”

All in all it was a great weekend for the 16X team, despite the disappointing results at Five Mile Point. Dan and the team is looking forward to racing at Skyline on Tuesday, a race they won last year.
